Venezia vs Lazio: zero points against ten, 11 goals conceded against three 
Venezia are the only Serie A side to have taken no points after four rounds. The Venetian club have shipped 11 goals in that spell, while scoring four.
Lazio head to the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo on Saturday 19 September at 8:45 pm Paris time. The fourth-placed side have 10 points and are still unbeaten since the season resumed.
The gap in the table is the biggest in this fifth round of fixtures. Ten points separate the two teams after just four matches.
The defensive contrast is even starker than the one in the standings. Venezia have conceded at least twice in every round, while Lazio have never let in more than two in a game.
The Romans have finished two matches without conceding, away to Bologna and at home to Genoa. Six goals scored and three conceded point to a side that keeps things tight at both ends.
Venezia came back up from Serie B at the end of last season and are finding out pretty quickly that this level gives you no breathing space. The early schedule took the Venetians to San Siro by the second round.
Their last outing summed up the problem: a 4-2 defeat to Fiorentina at the Penzo on 11 September, with two goals scored and four shipped. Scoring has never been enough this season.
Lazio go into this trip unbeaten since the restart. Three wins and a draw leave the Romans two points behind AS Rome and Inter at the top of the league.
Even so, Venezia have not exactly been handed the toughest run in Serie A. Lecce, Frosinone and Fiorentina are all sitting in the bottom half.

Venezia have lost their first four Serie A matches. No other team in the division has such a grim record after four rounds.
It started with a 2-0 defeat to Lecce at the Penzo, with not a single goal in response. The next away trip to San Siro ended in another 2-0 loss, this time to AC Milan.
The next two matches at least brought some life in attack, but not enough to change the results. A 3-2 defeat at Frosinone on 6 September, then a 4-2 loss to Fiorentina five days later.
At home, the record is simple: two games, two defeats, two goals scored and six conceded. The Penzo has offered the promoted side nothing so far this season.
With 11 goals conceded, Venezia share Serie A’s worst defensive record with Fiorentina and Monza. The difference is in the table: those two have already picked up points.
Attack is not the main issue, with four goals in four outings. That total is still low, but it is better than Bologna, Parma or Genoa, who all have two.
The first two rounds came and went without Venezia scoring at all. They had to wait until the trip to Frosinone to get the attack moving.
Since then, Venezia have scored twice a game but conceded three or four. The problem has shifted rather than disappeared.
Giovanni Stroppa’s side head into the visit of Lazio without ever really having controlled a game for any length of time. That lack of a positive script matters just as much as the raw numbers.

Lazio: two away games, two wins and a defence that has conceded just three 
Lazio have three wins and a draw after four rounds. Three goals conceded puts them among the strongest defences in Serie A.
The two away games already played have both ended in victory. A 1-0 win at Bologna on 24 August, then a 2-1 success at Udinese on 7 September.
Across those two trips, the Romans scored three times and conceded once. Their work away from the Olimpico has been the standout of Gennaro Gattuso’s start to the season.
The home win over Genoa finished 1-0, sealed by Davide Frattesi, who joined on loan from Inter this summer. The Italian midfielder settled straight into the Roma side.
The only points dropped came in a 2-2 draw at home to AC Milan on 12 September. It is also the only time Lazio have conceded two goals in the same match.
The Roman defence had allowed just one goal across the first three rounds. The two goals shipped against Milan therefore account for two thirds of their defensive total.
That draw against the sixth-placed side was no accident. Milan remain unbeaten and have eight points after four rounds.
The attacking output has been controlled, with six goals in four rounds. That sort of economy has still been enough to leave the Romans just off the podium places.
The trip looks favourable for the visitors. Lazio are facing the only team still without a point, after already winning twice away from home against opponents higher in the table.

Lazio have won both of their away games this season while conceding just one goal in total. Venezia have lost all four matches, giving up at least two goals each time.
The promoted Venetian side have taken no points at home, with six goals conceded in two games there. Today’s visitors boast one of the three best defences in the division.
That contrast between the two teams says it all. Venezia are conceding 2.75 goals per game, while Lazio are letting in just 0.75.
Take Lazio to win at the Penzo. A Roman defence that has conceded only three goals and a Venetian side still stuck on zero points leaves little room for doubt.
