Venezia vs Fiorentina: six defeats in six, and only one side will leave relieved
Venezia and Fiorentina have played three Serie A matches and lost them all. Neither side has picked up a single point since the season resumed.
The clash opens round four on Friday September 11 at 20:45, Italian time. Venezia are at home, and the table has the two clubs down among the bottom two.
Venezia sit 18th with two goals scored and seven conceded. La Viola are bottom with just one goal scored and nine shipped.
The goal difference says plenty: minus five for Venezia, minus eight for Florence. Nobody in Italy has been worse than the Tuscan club on that front.
The fixture list does not explain everything. Fiorentina have already lost twice at home, including a 3-0 hammering by promoted Frosinone, and that hurts far more than a hiding in Rome.
Venezia also fell at home on opening day, beaten 2-0 by Lecce without scoring. Both teams arrive with precious little to cling to.
The stakes go well beyond three points. The loser will head into October with zero from 12 and a season already looking damaged.
For a fourth-round fixture, this is rare territory. Twelve points have been on offer since the restart, and neither side has taken one.
Serie A has already seen Roma, Inter Milan and Lazio pull clear at the top, all on nine points. The gap between the summit and the cellar is already huge.
Venezia have scored in only one match
Three defeats, zero points, 18th place: Venezia’s start leaves no room for debate. The newcomers are paying for every slip.
The attack has gone quiet for two straight games. Venezia have only found the net at Frosinone, in a 3-2 loss that still stands as their best performance.
Those two goals in a single outing tell a story. This side can hurt teams when it gets forward, but it falls apart at the back the moment it opens up.
The opening-night home loss to Lecce remains the most worrying result. Beaten 2-0 in front of their own fans, Venezia wasted the chance to kick-start the campaign.
The trip to AC Milan ended in a fairly predictable 2-0 defeat. On that night, though, the defence held up reasonably well against a far stronger side.
Seven goals conceded in three league games is fewer than Fiorentina and fewer than Genoa. Venezia are not the worst defence in the division, not by a long shot.
The real issue is still at home. Venezia have not yet turned their own ground into anything close to an advantage, and they need that to change fast if they want to escape danger.
The step up to the top flight is catching them in transition. Every loose touch high up the pitch has turned into trouble for the opposition since the season began.
Still, the 3-2 defeat at Frosinone showed something else. Venezia fought back after falling behind and stayed in it until the end before finally cracking.
Try it for $0.99.
Fiorentina are bottom of Serie A
One goal scored, nine conceded, zero points: Fiorentina are 20th and bottom of Serie A. No Italian side has started worse.
The 4-0 loss in Rome set the tone. Beaten by Roma on the opening day, Viola were never in the contest.
What followed was even uglier. Promoted Frosinone went to Tuscany and left with a 3-0 win, a result few saw coming.
Round three did nothing to stop the rot. Torino took all three points with a 2-1 win, leaving Florence empty-handed after three matches at this level.
Fiorentina’s only goal of the campaign came in that defeat to Torino. Three games, one goal: the attack has stalled completely.
Two home defeats from three games is the number that should worry them most before this trip. Fiorentina are getting nothing from familiar surroundings.
Nine goals conceded put Viola alongside the division’s weakest back lines. So this visit to Venice comes at a time when the club has very few answers.
They were supposed to be pushing for Europe. Instead, they’re propping up the table. The gap between summer ambition and the current reality is hard to defend.
That 3-0 home defeat to Frosinone is still the standout result of the Italian season so far. A side that had not won any of its first three games was handed its biggest statement win by Florence.

Serie A prediction Venezia vs Fiorentina
Our prediction: Venezia to win
Fiorentina have conceded nine goals in three league games and lost twice at home, including a 3-0 defeat against promoted Frosinone. Venezia have conceded seven, two fewer, and they are at home this time.
The gap in goal difference is not small: minus five against minus eight. Over just three matches, that points to a heavier touch of fragility in Tuscany.
Losing twice in front of your own crowd before October has even arrived says plenty about the mood in Florence. Venezia have a real opening on Friday.
Venezia showed at Frosinone that they can score twice in one match, something Florence have not come close to since the restart. The home side can take their first three points on Friday night.

Before anything else, a word on our free tips
- What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We share an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is still sport: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal from nowhere… and the whole script changes.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks nailed on, it never really is. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, you will lose at some point.
- The best approach is to stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Do not touch money you need to live on. And above all: do not chase losses, because that rarely ends well.
- A bet should stay a bit of fun, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking over your day, if it’s irritating you or putting you under pressure, take a break. If needed, speak to a specialist support service. That’s what it’s there for.
- In the end, responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Important reminder: betting is illegal for minors and must comply with the law in your country. Gambling can spiral quickly (money losses, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us
Our tips are not a contract. They have no legal force. In plain English: you cannot use them to demand anything if a bet loses.
Information moves fast
A prediction is always based on what we know when it is written. But in the meantime, a team sheet changes, a player gets injured, the weather turns… and the analysis can be out of date in a flash. We cannot be held responsible for that.
Your responsibility
