Twenty-three points, and a ticket punched
Tiffany Hayes let one go from just past half court as the first-quarter buzzer sounded. It dropped. Golden State led 20-19 at that point and never trailed again, beating Dallas 78-70 overnight for a sixth straight win and a confirmed playoff spot.
Gabby Williams ran the offense and finished with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Veronica Burton added 16 points and 5 assists. The two of them locked things down in the fourth quarter, when Dallas trimmed the margin to under six and looked, briefly, like a team that might steal it.
Hayes ended the night with 10 points and two made threes.

12-for-36 from deep, and it still worked
The Valkyries were not sharp from three-point range. They just kept firing. Volume covered for accuracy, which is not a strategy anyone draws up, but it got the job done on a night when the shots were not falling early.
Janelle Salaün came off the bench for 10 points, more of what she has given them all month.
Paige Bueckers scored 21 for Dallas and nearly hauled the Wings back into it. Arike Ogunbowale had 17. Alanna Smith put up 13 and 5 rebounds. Dallas have lost five of their last six now, and their postseason hopes are thinning out fast. Golden State also finished off a 3-0 season sweep of them.
Year two, and the bar has already moved
The Valkyries sit at 25-9. Last season’s win total is already two games behind them, with the schedule still running.
Back in 2025 they became the first expansion side in WNBA history to make the playoffs in a debut season. Doing it once could be read as a fluke of scheduling and matchups. Doing it again, with this much room to spare, reads differently. The No. 2 seed is now within range.
