A trick play to kick things off
Utah got the first snap of the night. Devon Dampier flipped a lateral to receiver Byrd Ficklin, who then let it fly. Thirty-six yards later, Wayshawn Parker made the catch.
Seven plays later, Parker dove in from a yard out. 7-3.
The Utes had made their point after just 30 seconds.

29-3 at the break
Early in the second quarter, both teams traded interceptions. Only one was turned into points.
Jackson Bennee picked one off at Arkansas’ 24. Three plays later, Dampier ran in from seven yards out.
Parker did it again on a nine-yard run. Then he shook off a defender and hauled in a seven-yard pass with 27 seconds left in the half. Three touchdowns for him before the break.
This was the seventh time in eight games, dating back to last season, that Utah has scored at least 20 points before halftime. That is no fluke.
Arkansas had no answers
KJ Jackson completed 41.2% of his passes. He threw for 139 yards and an interception. He also led the team in rushing with 34 yards, which tells you plenty about the rest of the night.
The Razorbacks managed just 61 rushing yards in the game. They averaged 4 yards per play.
Utah piled up 442 yards and 7.1 yards per play, added four sacks and came away with a takeaway. The Utes’ defense did not allow a touchdown until the final minute.
Arkansas’ only score came with 6:43 left, when backup AJ Hill hit Ismael Cisse on a 21-yard touchdown pass. Hill had completed eight of 14 passes for 105 yards at that point.
Dampier finished with 261 passing yards and two touchdowns, plus 50 rushing yards and two more scores on the ground. Noah Bennee caught four passes for 113 yards, a career best. Parker finished with 129 total yards and three touchdowns.
Utah moves to 2-0. That is its second win in four seasons against an SEC opponent.
