Four points up, then the floodgates opened
With six minutes left in the first half at the Coliseum, USC was only ahead 14-10. Louisiana had just capped a seven-play, 75-yard drive with Steven Blanco punching it in from the goal line.
Then a deflection changed everything. Jayden Maiava’s throw brushed the hand of safety Maurion Eleam before dropping into the arms of Kayden Dixon-Wyatt, who took it back 19 yards for a touchdown.
Less than two minutes later, Trent Mosley ripped off an 86-yard punt return. Twenty-eight points in the first half, and a game flipped by two plays separated by 100 seconds.

Maiava keeps the offense humming
The Trojans quarterback finished 19 of 29 for 261 yards and five touchdowns. Two of them went to Mark Bowman from close range, from 5 and 9 yards out. Bowman led the team with six catches for 83 yards.
The fourth came right after the break, a 21-yard strike to Mosley, who hobbled off the field immediately after. The fifth, a 44-yard bomb to Zacharyus Williams, came before Maiava exited in the fourth quarter.
USC is rolling early this season. Two weeks ago, the Trojans shut out Fresno State 39-0. They move to 3-0 and have not trailed once this year.
Louisiana wasted its chance
The Ragin’ Cajuns needed a quarter to get going, managing just 18 yards. They finished with 358, which tells you plenty about what they did once they found some rhythm.
Lunch Winfield completed 16 of 22 passes for 212 yards and ran for 91 yards, the top total on the day for his team, while also scoring two rushing touchdowns from 1 and 32 yards. Russell Babineaux caught six passes for 91 yards, the best receiving total in the game for either side.
King Miller answered for USC with 128 yards on 18 carries and a 12-yard touchdown in the final quarter. Louisiana falls to 1-1.
