Toni Nadal no longer believes in Djokovic
In an interview with ESPN, Toni Nadal, Rafael’s uncle and former coach, said out loud what plenty are thinking: 2026 could well be Novak Djokovic’s final season on the tour. The message is blunt, unsentimental, but the logic stacks up.
“When you have to play every two days and over five sets, recovery is not the same. The travel is not the same anymore, you arrive a little late and all of that shows up in your game,” Toni Nadal explained. It’s a simple point, almost harsh: time catches everyone, even the greats.
One realistic target left: one more Grand Slam
For someone who has already won 24 Grand Slam titles, what is left to drive him on? Toni Nadal’s answer is clear: nothing, except the chance to grab one more. “He’s competing to try to win one more Grand Slam, otherwise what is the point for a player who has already won everything? That’s why I think we are seeing his final season.”
Djokovic is 39. He has said more than once that he wants to keep going until the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, when he would be 41. Ambitious? Absolutely. But Toni Nadal doesn’t seem convinced.

Wimbledon, maybe the final major stage?
Wimbledon starts in less than ten days. The question is obvious: can the Serb still go after a Grand Slam title at his age, in a tour where Sinner, Alcaraz and Zverev are all on the rise?
For bettors, the future of the men’s game depends partly on the answer. If Djokovic calls time, the whole balance shifts. Alcaraz is the favourite on grass, Sinner keeps building momentum, Fritz is stacking up statement wins, and the new guard is waiting for its moment.
