Tennessee Titans vs Cleveland Browns: the league’s lowest-scoring offence hosts a 4-2 side that wins close games NFL

Andre Szmyt kicked a 37-yard field goal on the final snap to beat Baltimore 13-10 last Sunday. Cleveland had trailed 10-0, and the win lifted them to 4-2 and into a three-way tie for first in the AFC North with the Ravens and Pittsburgh.

Next up is a trip to Nashville, kick-off 1:00pm ET on Sunday 25 October at Nissan Stadium, with CBS carrying the game. Tennessee are 1-5 and last in the AFC South, and their only win came last week, 26-20 at Indianapolis.

The Titans score 14.0 points a game, the lowest figure in the league, and gain 236.3 yards, also last. Cleveland aren’t much more fluent at 17.7 points and 267.5 yards, but they allow 20.3 and have found ways to close out tight games.

Four of the Browns’ six results have been decided by five points or fewer: 23-19 at Tampa Bay, 21-18 against Carolina, 27-24 against Pittsburgh and 13-10 against Baltimore. They won all four.

The market makes Cleveland narrow favourites. The spread is 1.5, the Browns are around 1.80 on the moneyline and the Titans 2.05, with a total of 37.5.

Tennessee did win the 2025 meeting 31-29, with Tony Pollard running for 161 yards and a blocked punt along the way. I’d weigh this season’s numbers more heavily than that afternoon.

Tennessee Titans: one win, 14 points a game and a minus-five turnover margin Tennessee Titans

Robert Saleh’s side finally got off the mark in Indianapolis. They sacked Daniel Jones six times and forced three turnovers in a 26-20 win, and that’s the defensive effort they’ll need again on Sunday.

The defeats before it came with very few points. Among them, Tennessee lost 24-20 to Philadelphia, 12-7 at the Giants, 24-18 at Baltimore and 26-3 at home to Houston. Philadelphia and Houston both won at Nissan Stadium, where the Titans are still winless.

Cam Ward has 998 passing yards, four touchdown passes and two rushing scores. Mitchell Trubisky and Hendon Hooker sit behind him. The Titans are bottom four in red-zone touchdown rate, and their turnover differential is minus five.

Pollard is the most reliable piece of the offence, with 349 rushing yards. He’s also the one player on this roster who has already hurt Cleveland badly, in that 161-yard game last season.

Defensively, Tennessee allow 21.5 points and 343 yards a game. They have 10 sacks, six of them in the Indianapolis win, and they released defensive tackle Jordan Elliott on 20 October.

Against the spread they’re 3-3 this season, though only 12-28 across their last 40 games. Four of their six games have gone under the total.

Cleveland Browns: 16 sacks, a leaky line and Mason Graham on the way back Cleveland Browns

Deshaun Watson remains Todd Monken’s starter, with Shedeur Sanders behind him on the Week 7 depth chart. Watson has 1,010 passing yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions, completing 64.2%. He went 16 of 26 for 164 yards against Baltimore.

The offensive line is the worry. Cleveland allow a sack on 11.31% of dropbacks, the worst rate in the league. Teven Jenkins (back) and Elgton Jenkins (knee) were both on Wednesday’s injury report.

The defence is why Cleveland are 4-2. It has 16 sacks, seventh in the league, and Mason Graham leads the team with four despite missing two games with MCL and ankle sprains. He practiced on Wednesday, and Monken said there’s “a pretty good chance” he plays.

Quinshon Judkins is also back at practice after missing Week 6 with an ankle injury. He has 221 yards on 73 carries and a touchdown. Dylan Sampson has returned to practice from injured reserve, while Raheim Sanders is out with a hip problem.

Grant Delpit is the biggest doubt. The safety has concussion and shoulder problems and didn’t practice. Carson Schwesinger sat out Wednesday with an ankle issue but is expected to play.

Rookie receiver Denzel Boston has 330 yards and three touchdowns, and Carnell Tate has 274. Cleveland are 4-2 against the spread.

The two defeats both came on the road. The Browns lost 34-10 at Jacksonville on opening day and 17-12 at the Jets in Week 5, scoring a combined 22 points in those games. Away from home their only win is the 23-19 at Tampa Bay.

Probable lineup Tennessee Titans: QB Cam Ward; RB Tony Pollard (full depth chart not announced at time of publication)
Probable lineup Cleveland Browns: QB Deshaun Watson; RB Quinshon Judkins (if cleared); WR Denzel Boston, WR Carnell Tate; DT Mason Graham (if cleared)

Our prediction: Cleveland Browns to win (odds 1.80)

Tennessee have scored 14 points a game and haven’t won at home. Their one victory came on the back of six sacks and three takeaways, and they’ll need something close to that again because an offence gaining 236.3 yards a game won’t outscore many teams on its own.

Cleveland’s road form and sack rate are the two things against them, and the Titans’ pass rush showed in Indianapolis what it can do. But the Browns’ own front has 16 sacks, Graham is close to returning, and they’ve won four games by five points or fewer.

I’d back the Browns to win at 1.80. A spread of 1.5 says the market sees a coin flip, and I don’t. One side shares the lead in its division, the other has the league’s weakest offence.

About our free predictions

  • What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
  • The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
  • A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
  • Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
  • Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.

Information changes

A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But between publication and kick-off, a lineup can change, a player picks up an injury, the weather turns, and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We cannot be held responsible for that.
