Tigers vs Eels: pride on the line at CommBank Stadium 
Round 22 of the NRL wraps up at CommBank Stadium, where the Wests Tigers host Parramatta. Neither side has anything left to play for in terms of finals, but local bragging rights and pure stubborn pride should make this a properly heated scrap.
For the Tigers, the pressure is on after a messy week and a heavy setback. For the Eels, the aim is simple: build on last week’s encouraging display against the comp leaders and finish a miserable season with something to show for it.
There’s extra spice, too. Jarome Luai faces his future club on Sunday, having already signed with Parramatta for 2027 before heading off to the brand-new PNG Chiefs franchise. His battle with young Ronald Volkman in the halves is set to draw plenty of eyes.
The Tigers need a response 
The 56-10 hammering from Canberra was the low point of the Tigers’ season. They were blown away through the middle, ripped apart out wide, and never looked like stopping the slide once the Raiders got on a roll.
Off the field, Adam Doueihi’s absence in the last game sparked plenty of talk. He’s back in training this week and returns to the starting side alongside Jarome Luai.
On paper, that halves pairing gives the Tigers more to work with. Doueihi’s kicking game and running threat should free Luai up to create more. Out wide, Heamasi Makasini comes back into the centres, with Sunia Turuva shifting to the wing.

Parramatta are competitive, but still frustrated 
The 24-18 loss to the Panthers hurt, but there were real positives in the performance. Parramatta raced to a 12-0 lead against the defending champions and showed they still have plenty of collective quality, even if the season as a whole has been well below par.
Unlike their opponents, the Eels managed to keep the defensive intensity up for the full 80 minutes and pushed the table-toppers right to the edge.
Mitchell Moses remains their biggest weapon. His long kicking game can pin teams back and pile pressure on opposing playmakers. Add Isaiah Iongi’s pace at the back, Ronald Volkman’s calm head and Josh Addo-Carr’s finishing touch on the edge, and Parramatta have enough strike to cause problems.
A derby that should be tight and intense
Both clubs go into this local clash desperate to put a rough season behind them. The Eels’ latest showing gives them a case, but the Tigers have often looked a far tougher proposition in these derby games than their recent form suggests.
Doueihi’s return to steer the side, plus Wests’ clear desire to make amends, could keep this much closer than the last few results point to.
