Texas and Seattle meet again for one last winner-takes-all clash in the series

This series has had plenty of twists. The Texas Rangers took the first two games, winning 5-4 and then 7-1, before Seattle hit back on Sunday with a 6-4 victory, closing things out in controlled fashion down the stretch. Both teams now get a chance to finish the job on a high.

The matchup between Kumar Rocker (Texas) and George Kirby (Seattle) will draw most of the focus. Seattle may hold a slight edge on the mound, but the recent form of both lineups points to a game where runs should be on the table.

Texas Rangers : need to finish the job

The Rangers have been strong in Arlington, but their latest loss was a reminder that their bullpen can still let games slip away after looking in control. After going up 3-1, they were hit with a few decisive blows in the later innings.

The offence, though, is still doing enough to be trusted. Texas has scored at least four runs in each of the three games in this series and keeps finding ways to put pressure on the bases in front of its own crowd.

Kumar Rocker comes in off a steady outing, but his season as a whole has been more up and down. Against a Seattle side that has put up good numbers against him, he will need to settle quickly and avoid one bad inning turning into a flood.

Seattle Mariners : back the bats to keep rolling

The Mariners finally found a way through in Game 3. A four-run seventh ended their losing run and showed this attack can still flip a game in a hurry when the bats wake up.

George Kirby remains the steady hand. His record against Texas is outstanding, with nine wins in 12 starts and a 1.33 ERA against the Rangers. He keeps the ball in the zone, limits free passes and usually makes life look easier than it is.

Even with Kirby on the hill, Seattle will need the same offensive output it managed the day before. The Texas Rangers are dangerous at home, and the visitors will have to keep the heat on a bullpen that has shown cracks in this series.
