The wobble lasted exactly one week
Team Liquid had gone the entire LCS Summer Split without dropping a match until LYON swept them last Sunday. That result levelled the top of the table at 5-1 and turned the final weekend into something closer to a scramble than a coronation.
Liquid answered overnight by beating Dignitas 2-0 to close their regular season at 6-1. Both maps went quickly, 25 minutes and then 29, Liquid taking the first on blue side and the second on red. Lim “Quid” Hyeon-seung finished the sweep with a 13/1/13 line, Brandon Joel “Josedeodo” Villegas went 12/0/16 without dying once across the series, and Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett managed 2/8/2 for a Dignitas roster that ends the split at 0-7.

What a top-two seed is actually worth
The LCS Summer Split runs eight teams through a single round-robin of best-of-three matches, and the reward for finishing first or second is a bye into the playoff semi-finals. Teams placed third through sixth start in the quarters, best-of-five and double elimination, from Sept. 12 through Oct. 4. The bottom two are done.
Liquid now hold 12-3 on maps alongside their 6-1 record. LYON sit second at 5-1 with a 11-2 map record and play Disguised on Sunday, with a 6-1 finish and the other semi-final berth on the line. Cloud9 took care of Sentinels in the day’s other series, 27 minutes and 33 minutes, both on blue, with Lee “Loki” Sang-min posting 11/2/13 to move his team into third at 5-2.
New York, Los Angeles and Allen are the real prize
Three LCS teams reach the World Championship, which runs Oct. 15 through Nov. 14 across New York, Los Angeles and Allen, Texas. Liquid have removed most of the risk from that qualification with a weekend to spare, which is what a semi-final bye buys in a double-elimination bracket.
Shopify Rebellion and FlyQuest, currently fifth and sixth, meet on Sunday in the last match that still shapes the bracket. Sentinels are fourth at 4-3. Disguised, at 1-5, need LYON to slip and other results to break their way to avoid joining Dignitas outside the playoffs.
