Nepal. It is probably the most unexpected line on Vincent Koziello’s CV. It is no longer the strangest.

The 30-year-old French midfielder has signed for Reus FC Reddis, a club in Spain’s fourth tier. The Catalan side announced the deal on Monday night across its social media channels, in Catalan, while pointing back to its new signing’s spells at OGC Nice and 1. FC Köln.

Eleven years on from his Nice breakthrough

You have to go back to the 2015-2016 season to understand why this move matters. That year, Koziello stood out at Nice. Small frame, huge engine, and a touch that could get a crowd off its feet. The Bundesliga came calling.

But Cologne never really saw that same player. Nor did the clubs that followed. Paris FC, Portugal, then Belgium and Oostende. And then came that Nepal episode, cut short by a fairly serious injury.

At Reus, he won’t get the spotlight of Ligue 1 or the Bundesliga. He will get minutes. At 30, and after a major fitness scare, that’s what matters now.
