Two down, three straight wins
Shopify Rebellion were 2-0 down. Then they rattled off the next three maps. It finished 3-2 against Sentinels on Friday in the opening round of the LCS Summer Split lower-bracket playoffs.
Sentinels came out swinging. A 27-minute win on red, then a 30-minute win on blue. Two quick maps, full control.
The fightback came in stages. Shopify took map three in 30 minutes on red, then closed out the last two on blue in 32 and 35 minutes. The games got longer as Shopify wrestled the series back.
South Korean Ju “Bvoy” Yeong-hoon led Shopify with a 15-10-14 kills, deaths and assists line. For Sentinels, fellow South Korean Cho “Rahel” Min-seong posted the best individual numbers in the series: 18-9-24. Huge stats, still out.

A stay of execution until September 25
Shopify are still alive, but only just. Their next match is set for September 25. The opponent will be the lowest-seeded loser from the upper-bracket semi-finals.
Those semi-finals take place this weekend. LYON face Cloud9 on Saturday. Team Liquid meet FlyQuest on Sunday.
The LCS Summer Split has featured eight teams since July 25 and will end with an October final. Seven weeks of regular-season play in a round robin, with each team facing the others once in a best-of-three, set the pecking order.
LYON and Team Liquid, the regular-season front-runners, went straight into the playoff semi-finals. Teams finishing third through sixth had to battle through the quarter-finals. The bottom two were knocked out.
Three tickets to a $5 million Worlds, and everyone else goes to China
The stakes go well beyond the LCS. The top three in the playoffs book their place at the League of Legends World Championship, with a $5 million prize pool, scheduled from October 15 to November 14.
Fourth and fifth do not reach Worlds. They instead qualify for the Demacia Cup Global Invitational, a $223,000 tournament in China from October 3 to 17.
Shopify sit outside all of that for now. Win on September 25 and the conversation changes completely. Lose and the season is over.
