US Open: Sabalenka vs Rybakina, start time and how to watch the final

Nobody has done this since Serena

Three-six, six-four, six-four. That was the road Elena Rybakina had to travel to get past Coco Gauff, in front of a New York crowd that wanted the other ending. Sabalenka had finished her own business hours earlier, brushing Jessica Pegula aside in straight sets without ever looking troubled. So the world’s top two meet for the title, and the Belarusian is hunting a third consecutive Flushing Meadows crown. The last woman to pull that off was Serena Williams, between 2012 and 2014.

Play starts Saturday 12 September at 4pm in New York, which is 9pm in the UK and 10pm in mainland Europe. Best of three sets. If these two trade blows the way they usually do, expect the trophy ceremony somewhere around midnight Paris time.

Prime time, for once

Nothing changes on the broadcast side. Eurosport has carried this tournament from the opening round and keeps it through to the trophy lift, with the final getting the main channel. Streaming viewers get the same feed on HBO Max, phone, tablet or set-top box. And the scheduling is kind this time. A 10pm Saturday start beats the sleepless grind of the men’s semi-finals the night before.

Programme subject to change by the tournament organisers or broadcaster.
