A message that is getting under the skin
Jerome Rothen is still fuming. On his RMC show, the former PSG man took aim at Bruno Genesio, the OM coach. The problem, in his view, is a relentlessly gloomy message since the start of the season.
Rothen says Genesio knew full well what the club was walking into before a ball was even kicked. “We were surprised that OM couldn’t get players in and therefore couldn’t recruit. But Genesio knew there was a risk,” he said.
The blast comes after criticism already laid down by Daniel Riolo in recent days. The pressure around the Marseille boss is only building.

“Stop whinging”
The temperature rises again. “At some point, take responsibility and stop whinging. You are on a mission, hearing you complain, saying I don’t understand, we keep making the same mistakes, I haven’t slept all night, enough already, get on with it,” Rothen snapped.
The outburst follows OM’s 2-1 defeat to PSG, where Genesio himself admitted the situation at the club was “not normal”. Rothen grabbed that line and used it to drive his point home.
A barely disguised ultimatum
Rothen did not stop there. “If he really wants to quit, then quit. If you’re going to cling on to the job, stay and fight like a warrior and drag OM out of the mess, otherwise walk away and don’t pretend you’re retiring,” he said.
