Pre-called for November
Cristiano Ronaldo is on Portugal’s provisional list for the next Nations League window, which opens the door to a return barely a month after he walked out on the squad. AFP learned of the pre-selection from the Portuguese federation on Tuesday morning, and a federation spokesperson confirmed local media reports.
Portugal host Denmark in Braga on November 14, then travel to Wales three days later to close the group stage. Coach Jorge Jesus is expected to name his final squad on November 6.

A suspension that barely bites
Ronaldo left the camp in Copenhagen on September 30, after a dispute with Jesus over his place on the bench against Norway and a press conference that did not follow an agreed script. Last week the federation handed him a 30-day suspension. Because it runs from the day he left, it expires before the November games, and several Portuguese voices have already called it far too light.
The 41-year-old apologised to fans and teammates in a statement on October 7 but confirmed the break with Jesus. Portugal have won all four Nations League games so far, the last three without him, and are already through to the quarter-finals in March 2027. Ronaldo has said this season will probably be his last.
