Saudi Pro League: Ronaldo’s 15-minute hat-trick sinks Al Kholood

A late burst after a disallowed goal

Cristiano Ronaldo had a goal ruled out for offside early on Thursday night, and Al-Nassr still had nothing to show for it at the break. Then the second half turned. The 41-year-old scored three times in 15 minutes as Al-Nassr beat Al Kholood 5-3 in the Saudi Pro League.

João Félix set up the first, in the 66th minute. Six minutes later he fed Ronaldo again, and the Portuguese forward powered in a header. The third arrived in the 81st, when Ronaldo finished off a run from Sadio Mané.

The 1,000 count and the table

By RMC Sport’s count, the hat-trick lifts Ronaldo to 984 career goals, which leaves him 16 short of 1,000. French outlets have flagged that the exact tally is open to dispute, with some counts putting it at 985, so the number depends on who is keeping score.

The result was Al-Nassr’s fourth league win in a row. It moves them level on points with leaders Al-Qadsiah, who count Tijjani Reijnders and Julian Quinones among their players, and puts them second for now.

Ronaldo also had a good week off the pitch. He was named “Ballon d’Or of All Time” in a paid online vote, and he has been pre-selected for Portugal’s next games, which opens the way to his return after his clash with coach Jorge Jesus.
