Eight runs in one inning
Tampa Bay pulled off a heist last night. Four runs down, the Rays blew the game open in the eighth. Eight runs in one brutal burst. The result was a 10-6 win on the road against the Athletics in West Sacramento. A complete turnaround. Twelve hitters came to the plate in that wild inning.
Yandy Diaz sparked the fightback with three hits in four trips, a homer and two RBIs. Junior Caminero landed the knockout blow, a three-run shot that travelled 125 metres. Jonny DeLuca added three hits and two runs scored. Chandler Simpson finished with two hits and two stolen bases.

A run that keeps growing
This win meant plenty. It was Tampa Bay’s seventh straight victory. Even better, the club is now a perfect seven from seven on the road trip. The setting makes the comeback look even sharper. Freddy Peralta, signed from the Mets, was making only his second start in his new colours. He gave up three runs over six innings and struck out five.
The Athletics threw it away
For Oakland, it was a bitter one to swallow. Jacob Lopez had done his job. Seven solid innings, two runs allowed, five strikeouts. It was the bullpen that blew it apart. Zack Gelof had given the home side breathing room with a 139-metre homer. It still wasn’t enough. The four-run lead disappeared in minutes. The Athletics keep finding new ways to lose and this was another one they had in their hands.
