NFL: Ravens rule out Lamar Jackson, Huntley starts again

A change of course on Saturday

Lamar Jackson practiced this week and said he was ready to go. The Ravens decided otherwise. On Saturday they ruled him out for Sunday’s game at Cincinnati, a reversal after he had been questionable with a high-ankle sprain that has already cost him two weeks.

Jackson was blunt about the injury on Friday, calling it “very, very, very, very, very painful.”

Huntley gets another turn

Tyler Huntley will start for the third consecutive game. He is 1-1 as a starter this season. The AFC North game matters: Baltimore is 4-2, one of three teams in the division sitting at that mark.

The numbers with and without Jackson

The split is stark. Baltimore has scored 116 points and 14 touchdowns with Jackson on the field this season, against 40 points and four touchdowns without him. The Ravens still lead the division in points scored with 156, but they have allowed 132, the most in the division.

Jackson also owns the Bengals. He is 11-2 in his career against Cincinnati, which makes this absence sting a little more than most.
