A goalkeeper with nothing to do
Adam Beaudry did not make a save. Not one. The Colorado keeper’s first outing of the season in Commerce City ended with a clean sheet and gloves that never got dirty, because Real Salt Lake did not put a single shot on target across 90 minutes.
The goal came in the 58th. Youssef Maziz swung in an inswinging corner towards the far post, Reggie Cannon arrived into the box with nobody within a yard of him, and the header did the rest. One-nil, and that was the night.
Maziz now has two assists in four league games. Not the name most people would circle for that.

Third season in a row with the trophy
The Rapids (10-11-1, 31 points) hold on to the regional cup for a third straight year. Salt Lake beat them 2-1 back on 16 May. This one squares the ledger, and in a playoff race this tight the three points carry further than the silverware.
Colorado have won five on the bounce at home without conceding once. Score first and the Rapids are 9-2 this season. It is not complicated.
Real Salt Lake (8-9-4, 28 points) are going the other way: eight league games without a win, five losses and three draws inside that run.
Cabral held the line on his own
Rafael Cabral made three saves. Two arrived inside the same 25th-minute scramble, first pushing away Georgi Minoungou’s header from close range, then getting down to the low follow-up after a run through the middle. Without him the scoreline gets ugly.
Everything else went one way. Colorado had 66.3% of the ball and four shots on target to nil. Salt Lake left their imprint through 21 fouls and five yellow cards, against 13 fouls and three bookings for the hosts.
Rafael Navarro should have put it out of reach in the 68th, taking Paxten Aaronson’s pass on his left and shooting with his right. It went over the bar. Nobody in a Rapids shirt seemed to mind by then.
