Rams survive a stalled start
The Los Angeles Rams did not earn a first down on their first five drives Sunday, and they still beat the Chargers 24-9 at SoFi Stadium to move to 4-4. A turnover got them going. Quentin Lake picked off Justin Herbert and returned it 45 yards to the Chargers’ 19, and Brandon McManus kicked a 30-yard field goal four plays later.
Cameron Dicker answered with field goals of 34, 46 and 41 yards to give the Chargers a 9-3 lead. Kyren Williams ran in from a yard out just before halftime to put the Rams ahead 10-9, and Blake Corum broke a 23-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. After Trent McDuffie intercepted Herbert, Matthew Stafford found Puka Nacua for an 18-yard score to make it 24-9 with 3:48 left in the period.

A first for the franchise
Los Angeles has now won back-to-back games for the first time this season. For the Chargers, the loss makes them 0-7, the first such start in franchise history. They have gone two straight games without a touchdown, and they have lost 10 in a row counting last season’s playoffs. They have also started four rookies on the offensive line in each of the past two games.
