Brisbane Roar have their striker. The club confirmed on Thursday that Virgiliu Postolachi has put pen to paper on a two-year deal ahead of the 2026-27 A-League Men season, and he arrives with the No. 9 on his back.
He is 26, and a Moldova international. He comes straight out of the Romanian Superliga, something the Australian club spelled out plainly: “Postolachi, 26, joins from Romanian Superliga side Universitatea Cluj.”

He trained alongside Mbappe, Neymar and Cavani, then left
That is the line on the CV that catches the eye. Postolachi came up through the Paris Saint-Germain academy in the years when the senior forward line read Mbappe, Neymar, Cavani. Nobody was breaking into that.
So he did what young attackers stuck behind names like those tend to do. He went looking for a game somewhere else, then somewhere else again, and Romania turned out to be the last European stop before a flight to the other side of the world.

The A-League has quietly turned into a landing spot for players stamped by the big European academies, and what it offers is not complicated. Minutes. A starting role, a shirt number that carries weight, a coach who builds the front line around you rather than leaving you on the bench through the winter.
Postolachi lands in Queensland with the number of a starter. Whether the goals follow is a different question, and the A-League will start answering it while Europe is already deep into its autumn.
