Zero euros, and a contract running to June 2027
No fee. That is the part Mallorca liked most about Alberto Moreno, and the Balearic club confirmed his arrival on Monday. The 34-year-old Spanish left-back had been sitting without a club.
“The left-back joins as a free agent after spending the last two seasons at Como 1907 in Italy and signs a deal through June 2027, with an option to extend,” the club said in its statement.
Mallorca were thin on the left. Moreno costs them nothing up front and fills the hole immediately, which is roughly the entire logic of the deal.

Moreno has seen most of what European football has to offer. He came out of the Sevilla academy and made his name in Andalusia, then went to Liverpool, then Villarreal, then Como for the last two campaigns.
At 34 he is not walking into a starting berth. He is cover, and a senior voice in a young dressing room. Mid-table Spanish clubs go hunting for exactly that profile in the last fortnight of a window: available, match-fit, free.
Ten arrivals, and the window is not shut yet
The island club has been busy. Moreno follows the loan capture of Polish striker Adam Buksa from Udinese, making him Mallorca’s 10th signing of the summer.
Spain’s window slams shut on September 1. That leaves a week of trading, and Mallorca have shown no sign of stopping.
