BIOGRAPHY
A key member of Vancouver Whitecaps's squad, Y. Takaoka has been an important figure in the MLS this season. Originally from Yokohama, Japan, this Japan international has steadily made his way to the top level. Operating as a goalkeeper, his frame of 183 cm and 80 kg gives him a physical edge in aerial and physical duels. His anticipation and quick reactions allow him to make saves that others would simply not reach. Shaped by stints at Sagan Tosu, Yokohama F. Marinos and beyond, he brings a wealth of footballing experience to Vancouver Whitecaps's dressing room. His trophy cabinet includes MLS All-Star, Canadian Championship, Super Cup among his major honours, evidence of a career built on collective success. The 2025/2026 season provides him with the opportunity to consolidate his status within Vancouver Whitecaps's first team. Given his performances, Y. Takaoka naturally asserts himself as a key part of Vancouver Whitecaps's sporting project.
