Two teams rolling after two weeks
Carolina and Cleveland meet on Sunday in Cleveland with the same goal: back it up. The Panthers are coming off a rout in Atlanta, winning 34 to 3. The Browns edged Tampa Bay 23 to 19 last week. Both teams sit at 1 win and 1 loss.
Carolina coach Dave Canales knows exactly what is at stake. “That’s the challenge for our guys: how do we do it every week and make sure we’re playing complementary football,” he said. Cleveland, meanwhile, is finally getting some home support. The Browns were on the road for their first two games of the season.

Bryce Young leads the league
The Panthers offense has been making noise. Bryce Young has thrown 6 touchdown passes so far this season, the top total in the NFL. He also has 648 passing yards, which ranks second in the league. Carolina is averaging 35.5 points per game, the second-best attack in the league.
Deshaun Watson is answering with a completion rate of 76.9%, also second-best in the NFL. The Browns quarterback is still under pressure, though. He has been sacked 7 times, the third-highest total in the league. Cleveland has made up for that with a defense that posted 3 sacks last week, including two on blitzes from defensive backs.
The injury list is getting busy on both sides
Carolina are losing bodies. Devin Lloyd (calf), Jaelen Phillips (back) and Nick Scott (ribs) all missed Wednesday’s practice. Jonathon Brooks has been placed on injured reserve after knee surgery. For the Browns, guard Teven Jenkins (back) is also sitting out. Both teams will have to deal with those absences in Sunday’s afternoon clash.
