Nice vs Lens: final warm-up before the cup showdown undefined

Nice host Lens at a point in the season where the stakes are pulling in opposite directions. The home side want to make sure survival is done and dusted, while the visitors are still clinging to the faintest mathematical hope of the title. One side is stuck in the mud, the other is fighting its own nerves, and that should make for a lively contest on the pitch.

Let’s be honest, Nice have had a season that has been anything but smooth. Sitting 15th, Claude Puel’s side are five points clear of the relegation play-off spot. They are already safe from going down automatically, but there is still work to do before they can breathe properly. The big issue? They still haven’t won at home in 2026.

At the back, Nice have often looked all over the place when opponents turn up the tempo, with several recent games at home ending in three goals conceded. Even so, they do have a strong record against this particular rival at the Allianz Riviera, unbeaten in the last nine home meetings. Puel will need to find a way to make Nice sharper in the decisive areas. A win would also let them head into their cup final with far less tension. Expect them to go strong for this one.

At the other end, Lens keep flirting with danger but usually find a way out at the last moment. Pierre Sage’s men sit second and trail Paris by six points. In recent outings, Lens have had to claw back two- or three-goal deficits just to nick points. They’ve got steel, no question, but their away form has been far too patchy.

They’re also on a poor run on their travels, without a win in four away matches. Even so, Lens have been clearly superior this season against teams in the bottom half of the table. Their defence is a little easier to get at than it was in 2025, which could be a problem against a hungry attack. Doing the double over this opponent in the same year would be a first for Lens this century. Sage will want a much tighter unit if they are to bring the points back from the south. They will not be here to hand out favours.

Football tip Nice vs Lens

Both teams to score

This clash between Nice and Lens looks set to bring goals at both ends. On one side, the hosts badly need points in the fight for survival and will fancy their chances against an away defence that has been giving plenty away. On the other, the visitors are full of fight and usually manage to find a way through, even when they are under pressure. With both back lines looking shaky, this feels like an open game where the strikers should have the upper hand over two teams that are not exactly well-drilled at the back.

Before anything else, a word on our tips

  • What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We share an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, a tactical mess, a goal out of nowhere… and the whole script changes.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no risk-free bet. Even when something looks obvious, it really isn’t. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, you will at some point.
  • The smart move is to stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Do not touch money you need to live on. And above all: do not chase losses, because that rarely ends well.
  • A bet should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If you feel it is taking up too much of your day, making you annoyed or putting you under pressure, take a break. And if needed, speak to a specialist support group. That is what they are there for.
  • In the end, responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
  • Essential reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spiral fast (money losses, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.

No commitment from us

Our tips are not a contract. They have no legal force. In plain terms: you cannot use them to claim anything if a bet goes wrong.

Information changes

A tip always depends on what is known when it is written. But in the meantime, a team sheet changes, a player gets injured, the weather turns… and the analysis can quickly go stale. We cannot be held responsible for that.

Your role

Before placing a bet, check that betting is legal where you are. If it is not, that is your responsibility, not ours.

Responsible gambling first
