A hard stop for a young forward
Arnau Farnos will not play for a while. New York City FC confirmed on Wednesday that the 23-year-old forward underwent surgery to repair a fractured lower left leg and ankle. He starts rehabilitation right away, the club said, though it set no date for his return.
The injury lands at the worst moment for a player still proving himself. Farnos signed his first-team contract on April 24 and had worked into 11 appearances across competitions.

His standout moment came in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, where he scored his first senior goal for the club. A third-round pick in the 2025 draft out of Oregon State, Farnos fit the low-cost, high-upside profile that MLS clubs keep mining from the college ranks.
