Three weeks on from her Wimbledon triumph, Linda Noskova came back to earth with a bump. No escape this time.

Playing her first match since that London Grand Slam, the Czech sixth seed went out in the second round in Toronto. Caty McNally did the damage, 7-6 (5), 6-1.

The opening set was a grind, decided on a tiebreak the American took 7 points to 5. Then it fell apart. Noskova won a single game in the second.
