Norway vs Senegal: a game that could catch fire fast
The second round in Group I could already have major consequences. After their emphatic win over Iraq (4-1), Norway now have a chance to seal qualification for the round of 16. Senegal, meanwhile, are already close to the point of no return after losing their opener against France.
That sets up a very different contest from the one Senegal played on matchday one. The Lions of Teranga will have to take more risks, while the Scandinavians have attacking weapons capable of punishing any gap.
Norway play with plenty of freedom
Stale Solbakken’s men made a flying start to the tournament. The win over Iraq backed up what their qualifying campaign had already shown: this team has more than enough quality going forward to turn a match on its head at any moment.
But it is not all smooth sailing. Over the past few months, Norway have been giving up chances far too often and have kept just one clean sheet in their last seven games. Even when they win, they usually still leave the opposition alive in the contest. That pattern showed up again against Iraq, with a goal conceded despite fairly clear control overall.
Senegal have little room left
Beaten 3-1 by France, Senegal still showed they can create chances against top-level opposition. They never completely dropped out of the game and kept going despite the problems. That could make this one a lot more interesting.
Another defeat would make qualification dramatically harder, so Pape Thiaw’s side should come out with a more ambitious plan. With pace and the ability to break forward quickly, Senegal have enough to trouble a Norway defence that has not always looked especially secure.

World Cup 2026 Prediction: Norway vs Senegal
Both teams to score
Norway games have a habit of serving up goals. Their last five matches have all produced at least three, and their attacking punch often covers up some defensive weakness. Senegal, for their part, cannot really afford to sit back anymore. After losing to France, the Lions of Teranga need points and will have to be far more proactive.
Norway look capable of finding the net again, but Senegal also have enough to exploit the space and get on the scoresheet. In a match where both sides have plenty on the line, both teams finding the target looks the most likely outcome.

First, a word on our predictions
- What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. It is an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal from nowhere… and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks obvious, it never really is. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, you will at some point.
- The best approach is to keep it sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Do not touch money you need to live on. And above all, do not chase losses. That usually ends badly.
- A bet should stay a bit of fun, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much of your day, if it winds you up or puts you under pressure, take a break. And if you need to, speak to a specialist group. That’s what they’re there for.
- At the end of the day, responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and never goes away, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Essential reminder: betting is banned for minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spiral quickly (money lost, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us
Our predictions are not a contract. They have no legal force. Put simply: you cannot rely on them to claim anything if a bet fails.
Information changes
A prediction is always based on what is known at the time it is written. But in the meantime, a team selection changes, a player gets injured, the weather turns… and the analysis can quickly be out of date. We cannot be held responsible for that.
Your role
Before you bet, check that betting is legal where you are. If it is not, that is your responsibility, not ours.
