McMillan owns the first half
Tetairoa McMillan did the damage early. By halftime the Panthers receiver had nine catches for 147 yards and a touchdown, and Detroit’s secondary had no answer for him. He finished Sunday night with 11 receptions for 162 yards and two scores in Carolina’s 32-26 win over the Lions.
Bryce Young kept feeding him. The quarterback started 15-for-20 and ended 24-for-30 for 282 yards and two touchdowns, a steady line that gave Carolina an early cushion. Chuba Hubbard added two rushing touchdowns of his own.
Detroit had its chances in the opening half. Jameson Williams dropped what looked like a 90-yard touchdown, a miss that hung over the Lions for a long stretch. He later made up for part of it with a 49-yard catch, but the early swing had already helped Carolina set the pace.

Lions stall in the red zone
Detroit kept moving the ball and kept settling for field goals. Trips inside the 20 ended in three points rather than seven, and that gap decided a game that finished within a score.
The Lions still had a final shot. They needed a fourth-and-13 conversion late, and the Panthers defense got the stop to seal it. It was a quiet finish after a night when the offense did most of the talking.
What it means
Both teams leave Week 4 at 2-2. For Carolina, the win gives Young a reliable top target in McMillan, whose first-half burst was the difference. For Detroit, the red zone problems are the story heading into next week, because the yardage is there and the points are not.
