New York Red Bulls vs Orlando City : a big chance in the East
The race for the playoff places keeps tightening in the Eastern Conference. The New York Red Bulls are still in a strong spot, but their cushion has shrunk week by week. Orlando are not far behind now and could even jump above them with a win in New Jersey.
This is, though, a meeting between two sides on very different paths. New York are still struggling to find their sharpness in attack. Orlando, by contrast, look to have found a second wind since the league resumed after the World Cup.
New York are looking to get back to business
The loss to Charlotte left a mark. Beaten 2-0 in front of their own fans, the Red Bulls once again showed the same flaws, both in front of goal and in the key moments. The frustration is even greater because they had been building some encouraging results before that.
Michael Bradley will be demanding a response from his group. Before the summer break, the team had found a decent balance and looked ready to settle among the conference’s better sides. Since then, that momentum has gradually faded away.
Julian Hall will have a major part to play. With nine goals already this season, the young forward remains the Red Bulls’ main threat going forward. His influence matters even more at home, where he has often found a way through when the side has hit rough patches.
Orlando are moving forward with more calm
The change in the dugout seems to have had the hoped-for effect. Two straight wins and two matches without conceding have given Orlando a lift heading into this trip.
The arrival of Antoine Griezmann has also turned heads. The French international brings experience and quality to a side that has long leaned on Martin Ojeda’s inspiration. But his absence could force the Florida staff to rethink the plan.
The away record is still a problem, though. Few teams have struggled as much on the road this season, and the Lions have won only a limited number of away matches over the past year.
Likely lineups :
New York Red Bulls : Horvath ; Marshall-Rutty, Che, Nealis, Dos Santos ; Donkor, Berggren, Forsberg ; Cowell, Hall, Ruvalcaba.
Orlando City : Crepeau ; Dorsey, Teodoro, Jansson, Rhein ; Angulo, Otavio, Ojeda, Souza ; Griezmann, Ellis.

MLS prediction : New York Red Bulls vs Orlando City
New York Red Bulls to win
The table does not fully reflect the issues both teams are dealing with. New York still carry a certain amount of home strength despite the recent setback against Charlotte, while Orlando continue to look far less convincing away from Florida.
Recent head-to-head meetings also back that up. The Red Bulls have not lost to Orlando in the league for several years and have often got the better of them through sheer intensity and a high-tempo approach.
This one could come down to fine margins, but home advantage, the recent record in this fixture and the absence of several key men on Orlando’s side point us toward a Red Bulls win.
in your pocket.

Before we start, a word on our picks
- What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We are sharing an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal from nowhere… and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing really is. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, at some point, you will.
- The best approach is to stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Do not touch money you need to live on. And above all: do not chase losses, because that rarely ends well.
- A bet should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If you feel it is taking up too much space in your daily life, if it is irritating you or putting you under pressure, take a break. And if needed, speak to a specialist support group. That is what they are there for.
- At the end of the day, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never go away, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Essential reminder: betting is illegal for minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spiral fast, leading to money problems, family tension and addiction. Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No obligation from us
Our predictions are not a contract. They have no legal force. In plain English: you cannot use them to claim anything if a bet goes wrong.
Moving information
A prediction is always based on what we know when it is written. But by the time you read it, the lineup may have changed, a player may have picked up an injury, the weather may have turned… and the analysis can quickly be out of date. We cannot be held responsible for that.
Your role
Before betting, just make sure it is legal where you are. If it is not, that is your responsibility, not ours.
