A reunion cut short
Ja Morant came back to Memphis on Thursday night and didn’t get to finish the story. The Portland guard left in the fourth quarter with a left hamstring injury and was ruled out for the rest of the Trail Blazers’ 124-103 loss to the Grizzlies.
He had 14 points and three assists in 23 minutes before heading to the locker room. It was his first game against the franchise that drafted him, and it ended with Portland well behind on the scoreboard and its point guard out of sight.
Coach Micah Nori said after the game that Morant felt a twinge in the hamstring. Nori hoped to have more answers on Friday and said he was hoping it was nothing major.

Memphis keeps rolling
The result was a comfortable one for the Grizzlies at home. Rookie Cameron Boozer put up a triple-double in the win, a line that made him the youngest player to reach one since Josh Giddey in 2021-22, according to HoopsHype’s stat feed.
For Portland, the bigger worry is what comes next. A hamstring strain can be a day-to-day nuisance or a multi-week absence, and nobody on the Blazers has said which this is. The team’s update on Friday will set the tone.
