NBA: Hawks’ Flemings suspended one game for elbowing McGowens

One game, no pay

The NBA has suspended Atlanta Hawks guard Kingston Flemings for one game without pay after he elbowed New Orleans Pelicans guard Bryce McGowens in the head. James Jones, the league’s head of basketball operations, announced the punishment on Sunday.

The play came with 3:04 left in the fourth quarter of Atlanta’s 121-99 loss at the Smoothie King Center on Oct. 31. Officials gave Flemings a technical foul and sent him off. The league’s review went further than the whistle, ruling the contact intentional.

Out in Indiana

Flemings serves the suspension in the Hawks’ next game, a visit to the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Atlanta will have to find his minutes elsewhere after that 22-point defeat in New Orleans.
