Napoli vs Frosinone: the promoted side sit three points above their hosts
Frosinone are 6th in Serie A on 10 points. Napoli are 9th on seven. Five games into the season, the newly promoted side are ahead of the club that won the Scudetto in 2025, and that’s the backdrop for Saturday night at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Kick-off is 20:45 Paris time on matchday six. Ermanno Feliciani is the referee. It’s a fixture that should be routine for Napoli, and on history it usually has been. But this season hasn’t followed the usual script for either club.
Napoli are in a transition year. Antonio Conte left in the summer and Massimiliano Allegri has taken over, and the early results have been uneven: two wins, a draw and two defeats. Frosinone, back in the top flight after two seasons in Serie B, haven’t lost since the opening weekend.
The head-to-head still leans heavily one way. Across the last seven meetings, Napoli have won five, drawn one and lost one. That gap in quality hasn’t disappeared just because the table looks odd in October.
So which matters more: five weeks of form or years of difference in squad strength? We think it’s the second, but with an important caveat. Napoli’s injury list is long enough to make backing them outright a less comfortable call than it should be.
Napoli: Allegri’s rebuild and an injury list that keeps growing
The start was fine. Napoli won 2-0 at Genoa on the opening weekend. Then came back-to-back defeats against direct rivals, 2-1 at home to Como and 3-2 against Inter, and the mood changed quickly.
They’ve steadied since. A 1-0 win over Bologna and a 1-1 draw at Fiorentina aren’t spectacular, but they’ve stopped the slide. Seven points from five games isn’t where Napoli expect to be. It isn’t a crisis either.
The medical room is the real problem. Buongiorno, the most important centre-back, is out, and so is first-choice keeper Meret. Marianucci has a knee injury, Alisson Santos a hamstring problem, and Giovane is also sidelined. Spinazzola’s muscle issue makes him a doubt, and Anguissa has a groin problem. McTominay had successful surgery for a heart rhythm issue and isn’t guaranteed to feature.
De Bruyne is another concern, with a groin injury flagged this week. He has a goal and an assist in Serie A so far, and Politano has the same return. If De Bruyne doesn’t make it, a lot of the creative burden falls elsewhere.
Which brings us to Hojlund. The Danish striker has two Serie A goals, then scored three times for his country during the break. He’s the one Napoli attacker who’s arriving in form. That matters.

Frosinone: four games unbeaten and a front four that keeps scoring
Most people had Frosinone down as relegation candidates. They lost their opener 1-0 at home to Juventus, and that seemed to confirm it. Since then they’ve been one of the surprises of the Italian season.
A 1-1 draw at Genoa, a 3-0 win away at Fiorentina, a 3-2 home win over Venezia and a 2-0 win over Como just before the break. Four games unbeaten, 10 points, and a side that knows what it’s about. Beating Como before the break was the result that made people take notice.
Kvernadze has been the standout, with three goals and an assist, and he scored again last time out. Calo, a big part of last season’s promotion, has a goal and an assist and also found the net against Como. Schmid has three assists from the flank and Ghedjemis adds pace.
There are fitness worries. Grillitsch, the Austrian midfielder signed in the summer, is injured, and Raimondo, their top scorer with four league goals, has been carrying a heel problem. If Raimondo misses out, Frosinone lose their main finisher.
This side doesn’t fold easily. But the Maradona is a different test from Genoa or Venezia, and they won’t get many chances.

Free Football Prediction: Napoli vs Frosinone
Our prediction: Rasmus Hojlund to score @ 1.98
A straight Napoli win is too short to back, and the injury list adds risk we don’t need to take on. Hojlund’s goalscorer price is a cleaner way into the game.
He’s Napoli’s main striker, he’s fit, and he scored three times during the international break. With De Bruyne and Anguissa both carrying problems, Napoli’s attack is likely to run through him even more than usual.
Frosinone have conceded in two of their last four games and will have to come out at some point if they want a result. At home, against a promoted side, Napoli’s striker should get his chances. We expect him to take one.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses, that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.
