The Serie A table has Naples in mid-table after three rounds, with only three points, well behind the teams on nine.
It is far from fatal at this stage, but it does point to a start below the standard of the main Scudetto contenders.
The Maradona’s one black mark this season is that 90 minutes against Como, a side who had picked up four points from two games before facing Napoli.
Benoit Badiashile arrived this summer on loan from Chelsea, with the move made official on 23 August 2026. The French centre-back adds another option in the middle.
Napoli ended last season well off the pace, and this league phase is a chance to put the club back where it believes it belongs in Europe.

Up front, this is a side that wins tight games rather than blowing teams away. Six goals in three matches, with only one scored away at Villa Park.
That profile points to a side that gets over the line rather than steamrolling opponents, which is not exactly the recipe for wild, five-goal nights.
Mikel Arteta heads into this trip with a trimmed attacking group, but a back line that has given up only once all season.
It leaves Arsenal looking extremely reliable at the back and more reliant on individual quality going forward. That is exactly the sort of set-up that often produces tight scorelines in the Champions League.
