Sixteen minutes, then nothing
Mykhailo Mudryk’s comeback has fallen flat. The Ukrainian winger picked up an ankle problem after a single Premier League appearance for Tottenham, a cameo that lasted sixteen minutes. He is expected to be out at least eight weeks.
The 25-year-old had gone two years without competitive football following a doping ban. The loan move to Spurs was meant to restart everything.
Roberto De Zerbi was asked about it on Friday, on the eve of Everton’s visit.

De Zerbi makes no secret of his frustration
“It was a silly injury and we hope he can come back as soon as possible, for him and for us,” the Italian said. “For him first, because he has suffered a lot, and for us, because we have lost an important player.”
He played it down all the same. “It’s a normal problem when a player has been out for a long time, like Mudryk.”
On the cameo itself, De Zerbi was upbeat enough: “He played 15 minutes at Nottingham. He played well, but that’s the normal process when a player has been unavailable for a long time.”
A reunion gone wrong
The loan made obvious sense. De Zerbi coached Mudryk at Shakhtar Donetsk, back when the winger first burst onto the European stage. The two reunited in London with a clear plan.
Eight weeks on the sidelines puts that plan on hold. Tottenham get on without him from Saturday, at home to Everton, where anything short of a win is treated as unacceptable inside the club.
