Mourinho draws his lines early
Back in the Real Madrid dugout, Jose Mourinho is not easing in. AS reports the Portuguese has already ringfenced six players he considers untouchable, a marker laid down before the season restarts.
Vinicius Jr is there, no surprise. The Brazilian just put pen to a deal running to 2032, one Mourinho is said to have lobbied for himself. Kylian Mbappe, the attack’s reference point, sits alongside him at the top of the pile.

Six names, one message
Jude Bellingham, Thibaut Courtois and Federico Valverde round out the Special One’s protected group. The sixth is Marc Cucurella, a summer arrival at the Bernabeu, and that pick says plenty: balance, experience, nobody along for the ride.
Yan Diomande, brought in for 140 million euros and tied down to 2033, may yet belong to the same foundation. The rest? They earn their place. Mourinho has never been shy about who sits where.
A rebuild takes shape
Around this spine, Real want to patch up a summer that turned messy, the Rodri saga chief among the wounds. Which bodies fit the mould the Portuguese wants is the open question. He has handed the squad its hierarchy. Now they answer it.
