A pick at the worst possible moment for Oklahoma
Jyaire Hill read the third-down throw, cut in front of it and ran the ball back 24 yards to the Oklahoma 6. Two plays later Jordan Marshall pushed in from a yard out. That was the game. Michigan beat No. 11 Oklahoma 17-10 this afternoon in Ann Arbor, and the Sooners never got the ball back in a position to do anything about it.
Bryce Underwood threw for 111 yards and ran for 87 more with a touchdown. Modest numbers on paper. His 38-yard run late in the first quarter was not modest, and neither was the way Michigan shut the door.

Seventy-five yards in a half, and still enough
Michigan led 10-0 at the break, Trey Butkowski’s 40-yard field goal with 2:28 left in the second quarter making it two scores. Then the offence vanished. The Wolverines gained 75 yards in the entire second half.
Oklahoma had chances with that. A 90-yard drive that ate more than five minutes ended with John Mateer finding Mackenzie Alleyne from 22 yards out. A field goal tied it with 11:49 remaining, helped along by a pair of 15-yard penalties on the Wolverines. Cam Brown then pinned Michigan at the 1 with a punt. Oklahoma outgained the hosts 289-263 and lost anyway.
Mateer went down three times. His final possession started at the Oklahoma 15 with 1:06 on the clock and no timeouts. He broke off 22 yards, then missed Rocky Beers deep when Chase Taylor knocked the ball away. Nate Marshall sacked him on the next snap and the clock ran out.
Seven days, two very different wins
A week earlier Michigan needed a Hail Mary to get past Western Michigan, in a finish the Big Ten spent days explaining. This one required no explanation from anybody.
Beers led Oklahoma with six catches for 94 yards. The Sooners fall to 1-1 and also lost linebacker Kip Lewis, who hurt his right knee in the first quarter, returned wearing a brace and quickly went back off.
Michigan are 2-0.
