Twelve LIV starts, and now a lead
Michael La Sasso is 22 and has been a professional for 13 tournaments. On Saturday at The Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield, Indiana, he shot a four-under 66 and moved to the top of the leaderboard at LIV Golf Indianapolis.
Five birdies, one eagle, two bogeys. He sits at 13 under with one round left in the final event of the LIV season, and it is his 12th start on the circuit.
The 66 followed a second round of 60. That Friday had left him tied for fifth. This one put him a shot clear of everyone.

The chasing pack is deep
Four players sit a single stroke back. Laurie Canter of England, who led after the opening round, added a 68. Belgium’s Thomas Detry matched it. Richard Bland went round in 65 and Australian Cameron Smith posted 67.
Bland is 53 and still waiting on a first LIV title of his own. He has played with La Sasso a couple of times this season and was happy to talk about him afterwards.
“The youngest and the oldest, yeah,” Bland said. “I’m sure he’ll be 50 yards past me off the tee. He’s a great kid. You can see he’s got a huge amount of talent.”
Bubba Watson, Sergio Garcia, Josele Ballester and South Korea’s Younghan Song are two back at 11 under. Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau sit at 10 under. Richard T. Lee, the wild card who led after 36 holes, shot 73 and fell into a tie for 23rd.
College form, professional timing
La Sasso spent one season at North Carolina State before transferring to Ole Miss, where he won the 2025 NCAA individual championship. He played Saturday alongside Matthew Wolff, a regular partner back home in Jupiter, Florida.
“There’s been countless guys that I played with in college that have already won professionally now,” he said. “So if I could add my name to the resume, that would be pretty sweet.”
The team title is live too. Rahm’s Legion XIII lead HyFlyers GC by a stroke, with La Sasso and Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent doing most of the scoring.
