Melbourne Storm vs Wests Tigers – Free NRL Prediction and Preview – May 10, 2026

NRL – Storm vs Tigers: Storm out to end the slide NRL

Storm head back to AAMI Park in almost surreal circumstances. Seven straight losses, confidence in tatters and a season already starting to smell like an emergency.

For Melbourne, this is the sort of game that can change the mood fast.

The Tigers, meanwhile, arrive shorn of key men at exactly the wrong time, with several major absentees right through the spine of the side. And while Wests have been one of the early-season surprises, the situation is getting messy in a hurry.

On paper, everything points to Melbourne finally halting the bleeding.

But after what we have seen in recent weeks, trusting this Storm side is another matter entirely.

Melbourne can afford no more slips Storm

The 28-10 loss to the Dolphins only deepened the odd feeling hanging over Storm this season.

For one half, Melbourne looked like a side ready to take control again. Storm led 10-4, played with more purpose and finally seemed to find a bit of rhythm.

The moment the game turned, Melbourne vanished. They shipped 28 unanswered points in a second half that was deeply worrying.

That is probably the biggest shock with this team right now: they just cannot stop a bad run before it gets away from them.

For two decades, Storm were the benchmark in exactly that department.

Now they look rattled, fragile and nowhere near their usual defensive standard.

Even so, there is still enough quality in there to expect a response.

Harry Grant keeps causing problems around the ruck, Sua Faalogo can create danger every time he gets moving, and the return of Jahrome Hughes completely changes the look of this attack.

The setting helps too.

At home, against a side missing several core pieces, Melbourne really have no excuses.

Storm do not need to be dazzling this week.

They just need to be solid, disciplined and in control against a weakened opponent.

The Tigers arrive in far too much trouble Wests Tigers — Wikipedia

The heavy 52-10 defeat to Cronulla may well have brought the Tigers back down to earth.

For several weeks, Wests had been hanging in there on spirit, energy and a decent level of cohesion through the spine.

Now the injuries and suspensions are starting to bite hard.

Losing Bula, Koroisau and Doueihi over such a short period changes the whole attacking shape of the side.

These are not just big individual absences.

They are the players who set the tempo, handled the exits from their own end and steadied the attack when things got sticky.

Without them, the Tigers look a long way from the slick, aggressive side we were seeing only a few weeks ago.

Against Cronulla, once the game opened up, Wests simply could not keep up.

Defensively, the holes kept opening, the retreat was too slow and the side lost all emotional control of the contest.

That is exactly the sort of scenario that can turn nasty in Melbourne.

Because even in their current slump, Storm are still the sort of side that punishes an undermanned opponent once they start to click.

And heading to AAMI Park without your 1, 7 and 9 looks like a very tough ask indeed.

NRL Prediction Storm vs Tigers

Under 58.5 points

Melbourne need control and confidence more than anything after a dreadful run, while the Tigers arrive with a badly weakened spine.

That points towards a more managed contest, tighter and probably less spectacular than Storm’s recent outings.

Even with both sides showing defensive flaws lately, the total simply looks too high here.

First, a quick word on our predictions

  • What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We are sharing an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is sport: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal from nowhere… and the script can change completely.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no risk-free bet. Even when something looks nailed on, it is never that simple. And yes, that means you can lose. At some point, you will.
  • The smart move is to keep it sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Do not touch money you need for everyday life. And above all: do not chase losses. That rarely ends well.
  • A bet should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If you feel it is taking up too much space in your life, winding you up or putting you under pressure, take a break. And if needed, speak to a specialist service. That is what it is there for.
  • In the end, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
  • Essential reminder: betting is forbidden for minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spiral fast, leading to money problems, family tension and addiction. Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.

No commitment from us

Our predictions are not a contract. They have no legal force. In plain terms: you cannot rely on them to claim anything if a bet does not land.

Information changes

A prediction is always based on what we know at the time it is written. But in the meantime, a team sheet changes (like Storm’s, for example), a player gets injured, the weather turns… and the analysis can quickly be out of date. We cannot be held responsible for that.

Your responsibility

Before you bet, just check that betting is legal where you are. If it is not, that is your responsibility, not ours.

Responsible gambling first

We cannot say it enough: gamble in moderation. If you are struggling to stay in control, do not wait to get help. We cannot be responsible for compulsive or excessive use of the information published on the site.

Legal age

mathodds content is for adults only. By using this site, you confirm that you are old enough under the law to bet.
