McDavid chases game 15
Connor McDavid has recorded at least one point in every game the Edmonton Oilers have played this season. The captain puts that streak on the line Sunday night at the New York Rangers, where a 15th straight game would extend a run that is already three games short of his longest season-opening streak, 17 games in 2021-22.
He has 37 points, 8 goals and 29 assists, 11 more points than Leon Draisaitl. On the road alone he has 5 goals and 14 points in six games. Saturday’s 4-0 win over the Islanders added an assist on Ryan Nugent-Hopkins’ power-play goal, and Nugent-Hopkins says McDavid “just finds ways” to keep the team moving. A streak of 15 or more games would be his eighth. His career best is 20, set from Dec. 4, 2025 to Jan. 13, 2026.

Edmonton’s road record meets a leaky Rangers defence
The Oilers are looking for a seventh straight road win to open the season and are outscoring opponents 31-13 away from home. Matching it would equal the best road start in franchise NHL history, set by the 1983-84 team. Edmonton is also 10-2-2 in its last 14 meetings with the Rangers, including 6-1-0 in New York. Draisaitl has 12 goals, nine of them in his last nine games.
The Rangers are coming off three straight losses in which they allowed 18 goals, and they are 1-4-1 since beating Tampa Bay 4-1 on Oct. 13. Their six-game home winning streak to start the year ended with a 6-3 loss to the Kings on Monday. New York has moved Pavel Dorofeyev onto the top line with Mika Zibanejad and Alexis Lafreniere in place of Gabe Perreault. Sean Durzi and Braden Schneider missed Saturday’s practice and could be out.
