WNBA: McBride drains 10 threes to set a league record

Ten threes, and a number no one had touched

Ten. That is how many three-pointers Kayla McBride buried against the Dallas Wings, a figure no player had ever reached in a WNBA game. The Minnesota Lynx guard poured in 43 points on the night, her best haul of the season, and rewrote a slice of league history while she was at it.

Minnesota won it 103-90. The result pushes the franchise to 27-7 and tightens its grip on top spot. Dallas walked off with a third straight defeat and a 19-14 record.

The third quarter is where it slipped away from Dallas

For a good while, nobody could pull ahead. The teams sat level at 66 with three and a half minutes left in the third. Then the Lynx found another gear. From that point on they outscored Dallas 37-24 and the game was gone.

McBride had help. Olivia Miles stuffed the sheet with 20 points and 13 assists. Napheesa Collier chipped in 17, Natasha Howard 12. Paige Bueckers did what she could for the Wings, finishing with 23 points, eight assists and three steals, the last of those matching her season high.

An ankle, and another worry for the Wings

The scoreboard was not the only bad news for Dallas. Jessica Shepard, an All-Star for the Wings, limped off in the first quarter with an ankle problem and never came back. One more thing to sort out for a side that has now lost three in a row.
