Four clubs, one bond
Maxwell shared a dressing room with Zlatan Ibrahimovic at four clubs: Ajax Amsterdam, Inter Milan, Barcelona and then Paris Saint-Germain. Not many players can say that. The Brazilian spoke about the relationship on the Portugal Football Summit podcast, hosted by Pedro Pinto.
“It was an incredible journey we went through together. We were lucky enough to share tears and joy, titles, and to learn from each other. Our children grew up together and are friends too,” said the former Paris left-back.

The Swede’s daily demands
Maxwell does not sugarcoat the man. He describes a team-mate who demanded everything all the time, including on the training ground, with a temperament that could make sessions a slog.
“He has a very strong character, and it was very intense sharing every training session with him because he was always extremely competitive and very demanding with everyone,” he explained. The Brazilian then added the other side of the story. “But at the same time, he’s someone with a huge heart, who gives everything to the people he trusts and the people he loves. For me, he’s a brother.”
A string of revelations
That was not Maxwell’s only talking point in the interview. The former player also discussed Luis Enrique and Luis Campos, in equally personal terms.
The two men remain tied to the period when Paris Saint-Germain began to move up a level, with the first major domestic titles of the Qatari era. Ibrahimovic now holds an executive role at AC Milan and speaks far less than he once did about his time in Paris. Maxwell, though, talks about a brother. The word was no accident.
