Los Angeles Dodgers vs Colorado Rockies – MLB Prediction – July 8, 2026

It took 11 innings to split Los Angeles and Colorado. The Dodgers finally came out on top 8-7 after a frantic night in which both teams had chances to slam the door. It was a thriller, no question, but it does not automatically mean the rest of the series has to follow the same script.

Neither starter looks untouchable. Roki Sasaki has had a tough season for the Dodgers, and Ryan Feltner is about to take on one of MLB’s best lineups on their own turf. Even so, with the total set at 10.5 points, it will probably take another lively night to clear the number.

Los Angeles Dodgers : win without needing another marathon Los Angeles Dodgers - Wikipedia

The Dodgers found a way again. It was anything but straightforward, but this team has enough talent to survive games that spin out of control. After 11 innings and 15 combined runs, Los Angeles will be hoping for something a bit calmer this time.

The batters are still the main threat to this bet. The Dodgers have very few weak spots in their lineup and can punish the smallest mistake. Against Feltner, patience will matter. Los Angeles does not need to force the issue to put runners on base and build pressure.

Sasaki, meanwhile, needs to look a lot different from the pitcher his 5.40 ERA suggests. The strikeout stuff is still there, but the walks and home runs keep getting him into trouble. Against Colorado, the brief is simple: cut out the freebies and make the Rockies earn everything.

Colorado Rockies : seven runs that may be hard to repeat Colorado Rockies - Wikipedia

Colorado can feel hard done by after game one. Scoring seven at Dodger Stadium is usually a strong enough base to win most nights. This time, it wasn’t enough, and the Rockies head back into battle after emptying the tank for 11 innings.

Repeating that offensive output won’t be easy. Sasaki has been inconsistent this season, but he still has enough quality to find his groove over several innings. The Rockies will need to take advantage of any control problems rather than going hunting for the long ball every time.

Ryan Feltner is likely to face the hardest assignment of the night. His 4.27 ERA is solid enough in Colorado terms, but facing the Dodgers in Los Angeles is a very different test. If he keeps the walks down and avoids the big inning, he can at least keep things respectable.

MLB Prediction : Los Angeles Dodgers vs Colorado Rockies

Under 10.5 points in the game

The 8-7 scoreline from game one will naturally grab attention, but it is worth remembering that the contest needed two extra innings to get to 15 runs. Jumping straight back into another shootout is far from a certainty.

Sasaki is a risk because of the high ERA and his control issues, but his strikeout upside still gives him a chance to work through several innings without doing too much damage. Feltner, for his part, has numbers good enough to suggest he can slow the Dodgers, provided he does not hand out too many baserunners.

The 10.5 line gives a decent margin. The Dodgers can still put runs on the board without the game turning into another slugfest, while asking Colorado to match the seven they posted last night feels like a big ask.

First, a word on our predictions

  • What we publish on mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We share an opinion, a read on the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is sport: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal from nowhere… and the whole script changes.
  • Let’s be clear: there is no risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it never really is. And yes, that means you can lose. In fact, sooner or later, you will.
  • The smart play is to stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Do not touch money you need to live on. And above all, do not chase losses. That usually ends badly.
  • A bet should stay a bit of fun, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your life, if it winds you up or puts you under pressure, take a break. And if needed, speak to a specialist organisation. That is what they are there for.
  • In the end, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
  • Essential reminder: betting is forbidden for minors and must follow the law in your country. Gambling can spiral quickly (money losses, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.

No commitment from us

Our predictions are not a contract. They have no legal force. In plain English: you cannot rely on them to demand anything if a bet does not land.

Information changes

A prediction is always based on what we know at the time of writing. But then a team sheet changes, a player gets injured, the weather turns ugly… and the analysis can be out of date fast. We cannot be held responsible for that.

Your role

Before you bet, simply check that betting is legal where you are. If it is not, that is your responsibility, not ours.
