Los Angeles Clippers vs Miami Heat: a 1-4 home team waiting on four injured rotation players
Giannis Antetokounmpo averaged 28.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists over his first four games in a Miami uniform, then added 24 points and 18 rebounds in Atlanta and 31 points against Indiana. The Heat lost their first four games of the season and have won the two since: 129-117 at the Hawks on 28 October and 145-125 at home against the Pacers on 30 October.
Wednesday 4 November takes them to the Intuit Dome for a 10:30pm ET tip-off against a Clippers team at 1-4. Los Angeles beat Sacramento 121-96 on opening night and has lost every game since, twice to the Lakers, once at Oklahoma City and once in Minnesota.
The gap shows up in the scoring. Based on the results so far, Miami scores 118.3 points per game and the Clippers 105.4. Los Angeles has passed 105 points once in its last four games, and it put up 87 in a 103-87 home defeat to the Lakers on 28 October.
Both rosters look very different from a year ago. Miami agreed the deal for Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis on 22 June, sending Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis and a package of draft picks to Milwaukee. The Clippers traded Kawhi Leonard to Toronto in September and got Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick and two unprotected first-round picks back.
Ingram hasn’t played for his new team yet. He’s one of four Clippers listed out with an estimated return of 8 November, along with Bradley Beal, Max Strus and Yanic Konan Niederhauser, so Wednesday’s game falls four days before any of them is due back.
The schedule tilts slightly toward Miami. The Clippers play at Golden State on 1 November and host Toronto on 2 November, which makes this their third game in four days. Miami faces the Lakers on 2 November, stays in Los Angeles, and only plays the second half of its back-to-back in San Francisco on Thursday.
Los Angeles Clippers: Garland is carrying an offense that scored 87 against the Lakers
Darius Garland is averaging 21.5 points and 6.5 assists, and he opened the season with 30 against Sacramento and 26 at the Lakers. He arrived from Cleveland in February in the trade that sent James Harden the other way, and with Leonard gone and Ingram in street clothes, most of the late-clock possessions go through him.
Help has been thin. Keaton Wagler, the No. 5 pick in the 2026 draft, is scoring 15.0 points a game and led the team with 21 in the second Lakers meeting. Brook Lopez adds 14.0 and Derrick Jones Jr. 12.5, and after that group nobody averages more than Rui Hachimura’s 10.3.
The defense has held up reasonably well, at 111.8 points allowed per game. The losses have come at the other end: 101 points at Oklahoma City, 87 at home against the Lakers and 101 in a 127-101 NBA Cup defeat in Minneapolis on 30 October.
Beal (knee) has been out since mid-October. Ingram (Achilles) and Strus (foot) were ruled out on 28 October, and Konan Niederhauser (foot) joined them a day later. Jordan Miller won’t be back before March after rotator cuff surgery.
That leaves Wagler and Lopez taking heavy minutes during a stretch of three games in four days. Wagler has started the season well, but a team that hasn’t scored more than 101 points since 23 October needs more than one good night from him to keep up with Miami.

Miami Heat: two straight wins after an 0-4 start, all of it built around Antetokounmpo
Miami’s first four games were all defeats, three of them at the Kaseya Center: 131-106 to Minnesota, 128-111 to Detroit and 113-109 to Dallas. The other came in Charlotte, 115-110. Since then the Heat have scored 129 and 145 points in consecutive wins.
Antetokounmpo has been the constant. He scored 35 against Minnesota, 36 with 12 rebounds against Detroit and 29 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists in the loss to Dallas. In the two wins he totalled 55 points, and he has scored 24 or more in five of his six games.
Davion Mitchell has taken over the point guard job, at 18.0 points and 7.0 assists per game. He had 22 points and 10 assists in Charlotte and 11 assists in each of the Minnesota and Indiana games. Bam Adebayo’s role has shrunk next to Antetokounmpo, to 11.8 points and 7.3 rebounds.
Defense remains the weak spot. Miami has allowed 121.5 points per game, and only Dallas, with 113, has been held under 115. That record will be tested less by a Clippers offense that has been stuck around 100 points than it would be by most of the teams Miami has faced.
The Heat’s injury report is short: Simone Fontecchio was listed as questionable with an illness before the Indiana game, and no one else appeared on it. Miami also won both meetings last season, 120-119 at the Clippers on 3 November 2025 and 140-123 at home on 1 December 2025.
Probable lineup Los Angeles Clippers: Darius Garland, Keaton Wagler, Derrick Jones Jr., Rui Hachimura, Brook Lopez
Probable lineup Miami Heat: Davion Mitchell, Pelle Larsson, Andrew Wiggins, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bam Adebayo

Our prediction: Miami Heat to win
We’d back Miami on the moneyline. The Heat have the best player on the floor, an offense scoring about 13 points per game more than the Clippers’, and they face a team missing four players who aren’t expected back until 8 November.
The argument against the pick is Miami’s defense, which has allowed 117 or more in four of six games, plus a road game the night before another one in San Francisco. The Clippers, though, have passed 105 points once since opening night and will be playing their third game in four days.
No line had been posted when we published. If Miami opens below 1.45, our alternative is Antetokounmpo over his points line, since he has scored 24 or more in five of his six games this season.

About our free predictions
- What we publish on MathOdds are analyses, nothing more. We share a view, a reading of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport remains what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a last-minute goal, and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there is no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing ever is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s even inevitable at some point.
- The smartest approach is to stay reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Never use money you need to live on. And above all: don’t chase your losses: that rarely ends well.
- A bet should remain a game, not a job or a source of income. If it starts taking up too much space in your daily life, causes stress or frustration, take a break. And if needed, talk to a support organisation: that’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and will never disappear, no matter how good the analysis.
- Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must comply with the laws of your country. Need help? Visit begambleaware.org.
