One lot, five seasons
The French league (LFP) launches its call for tenders for Ligue 1 broadcast rights on Tuesday, November 3. Candidates have until Monday, December 7 to submit complete bids. The deal would cover the 2027-28 season through 2032, and it comes only a year and a half after the league moved to its own Ligue 1+ platform.
Only one lot is on offer: all nine matches each weekend, exclusively. Bidders can choose between two setups, a classic sale of the rights or exclusive distribution of Ligue 1+. The league’s reserve price stays confidential, and a winner is not guaranteed on December 7. If nobody reaches the reserve, the LFP can open direct talks with the market.

Who might bid
The league says several outfits, American and established ones, have shown concrete interest. Canal+ boss Maxime Saada was cautious, saying the group will not spend money it cannot recover and does not really need the rights. beIN Sports could eye a return, and Disney+, which took the Spanish league rights this season, is seen as a serious contender. Paramount and Amazon are also mentioned as possible entrants.
Timing matters too. An exit clause in the Ligue 1+ distribution contracts must be triggered before the end of March, so November gives the league room to work. The LFP has also said the process will only count as a success if revenue clearly beats the projected Ligue 1+ trajectory, not merely the platform’s current income.
