Bundesliga: Leipzig close in on Roma midfielder El Aynaoui

Twenty-nine million reasons Roma said yes

Four million now, 25 million later. That is the shape of the package RB Leipzig have put together for Neil El Aynaoui.

Foot Mercato, backing up a Sky Germany report, say the German club have a verbal agreement in place with AS Roma for the Moroccan midfielder. The broad terms are settled between the two sides.

A loan with strings attached

The structure is a paid loan, roughly 4 million euros for the season, carrying a 25 million option to make it permanent. Roma have also inserted a sell-on clause, so they keep a slice of whatever comes next.

Leipzig had midfield on their list of gaps to fill. They appear to have won the race for him too. Crystal Palace were circling, per the same report, and have been left behind.

Nothing signed yet

Verbal is still verbal. Neither club has put its name to anything, and neither has said a word publicly.
