A third-division midfielder a year ago
In the summer of 2025, Felix Keidel was playing third-tier football at Ingolstadt.
On Thursday he could hear his name read out by Jurgen Klopp.
BILD reports the 23-year-old midfielder has made the new head coach’s first squad. Elversberg paid roughly 400,000 euros for him, watched him help drive promotion, then handed him a start in all three of their opening Bundesliga fixtures.
Defensive midfield or right-back. He covers both. Klopp has always had time for that kind of player.

The second surprise comes out of Monaco. L’Equipe says Paris Brunner has a genuine shot at a call-up.

Back in late August, fresh off his brace against Marseille in a 2-0 win, the striker talked about the national team himself, while making a point of not getting ahead of things.
Germany are thin up front at the moment and nobody has locked down the shirt, so the timing works in his favour.
There is a wrinkle. Brunner won the Under-17 World Cup and the European title with Germany, but he also holds Congolese citizenship through his mother. The DFB cannot sit on this one indefinitely.
Forty names, then twenty-three
Younes Ebnoutalib is another new face in the mix. Twenty-two, and off to a sharp start with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Klopp is expected to call up something close to 40 players before cutting the group down to 23 for the Netherlands and Greece.
Another round of changes should follow for Serbia and the Greece return fixture. One international break, a lot of auditions.
First squad. He could have gone safe and recalled the usual names. He did not.
