From one week to a month
The Toronto Raptors will be without Kawhi Leonard for a lot longer than first thought. Chris Haynes reported this afternoon, citing sources, that the knee problem is expected to sideline him for at least three to four weeks.
That is a sharp shift from Tuesday, when the team announced a shutdown of at least a week while he went through treatment and rehab. The MRI at that point showed no structural damage, and the swelling in his knee was the issue. Nothing in Haynes’ report changes that diagnosis, but the timetable now covers most of November.

What it means for Toronto
Leonard re-signed with the Raptors over the summer, and the plan was to have him healthy once games carry real weight. A month on the sideline in the first weeks of the season is a cost the club said it was willing to pay to protect the knee.
The rotation has to function without its most proven scorer for the foreseeable future. Toronto has not yet put out a revised return date, and the three to four week window is a minimum that comes from Haynes’ sources, not a team announcement.
