Ten minutes, two goals, one penalty and an own goal
Serhou Guirassy had the kind of night football keeps in a separate file. Two goals for Borussia Dortmund, a penalty he won and converted himself, then a ball turned into his own net deep in stoppage time. Same match. 3-2 over Villarreal to open the Champions League.
Scoring twice and also beating your own goalkeeper in one game is not a common line in a match report. The former Rennes striker did all of it inside ten minutes.

A game that gave nothing away for an hour
Nothing in the first half pointed to that ending. Dortmund had the ball and no breakthrough. Marcel Sabitzer was stopped by Peter Gulacsi inside five minutes. Tajon Buchanan forced Gregor Kobel into a save on 41. Gulacsi denied Guirassy before the break. Losing Konstantinos Karetsas to injury on 27 minutes did not help the hosts build anything either.
The opener was a mess. Maximilian Beier ran the left channel and crossed, Gulacsi got a hand to it, and Renato Veiga thumped it into his own goal on 53 minutes. Ethan Nwaneri had rattled the post two minutes before that.
Villarreal answered in a wave. Tanitoluwa Oluwaseyi, Nicolas Pepe, Georges Mikautadze and Santi Comesana all had a go inside a 15-minute spell that pinned Dortmund back. The corner that followed did the damage: Mikautadze found the near post, Santiago Mourino finished just after the hour.
Ten minutes that changed everything
Fabio Silva laid it off inside the box on 80 minutes and Guirassy steered it in. Five minutes later he won a penalty and took it himself. 3-1, and the night looked settled.
It was not. In the scramble of stoppage time the ball came off Guirassy and into his own goal, 90+3, and suddenly Villarreal had a finish they had no business getting. Dortmund held on.
Three points for the Germans. Villarreal were the better team for the last half hour and go home from the Ruhr with nothing.
