The International Team wont go quietly
Two points from five. Not bad for a side that was supposed to be dead and buried before a ball was struck. Team USA lead 3-2 after the opening fourballs of the Presidents Cup at Medinah. But the International Team got the job done on Thursday, and that changes the shape of the whole weekend.
Hideki Matsuyama, paired with Ryo Hisatsune, shut down Xander Schauffele and Cameron Young. The result was emphatic: 3&1. A statement. Two Japanese players muzzling two in-form Americans on home turf.

The Kim brothers bite back too
Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim did the same. Adam Gotterup and Patrick Cantlay had no answer. 3&2, and done. Two International wins from five matches. Enough to keep the dream alive heading into Sunday.
At the other end, Team USA had to dig in. Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns were taken all the way to the 18th, a decisive bunker shot sealing it against Min Woo Lee and Sungjae Im. Justin Thomas gave Corey Conners and Nicolas Echavarria no chance at all: 4&3, no drama. Wyndham Clark and Collin Morikawa then finished the job, 3&2 against Ryan Fox and Adam Scott.
Snedeker has been warned
American captain Brandt Snedeker made no attempt to hide his satisfaction after the opening session. “A session win is a session win. We take it however it comes,” he said. Three days of golf still remain at Medinah. And the International Team has just shown it is not going down without a fight.
